Mekaela Academies, Fee Structure, and Contacts
Started in 1996, Mekaela academies was an initiative to provide an opportunity for children to access education in the coast. This initiative is currently comprised of seven schools, which are:
- Lulu Boy’s High School
- Lulu Girl’s High School
- Likunda Primary School
- Mekaela Manuel Alexander School
- Mekaela Ratinga Primary School
- Mekaela Weber School
Mekaela academies aim to ensure that each child in Kenya can access affordable education, while discovering every child’s strengths. One of the things that the schools have invested in is online learning, to ensure that students can access leaning material from wherever they are and at any time.
This investment makes up the seventh school known as Mekaela Online Academy. For an in-depth understanding, below is a short review.
Mekaela Admission
After receiving an inquiry for admission, the following procedure is followed:
- Provision of school information to prospective parent
- Arrangement of visit to school
- Tour of school & interview with Headmaster, Deputy or Class teacher
- Receipt of Application Form together with copies of previous school reports, reference and examination results where applicable
- Payment of Sh. 400 interview fees (Lulu high school kshs 500)
- Academic assessment conducted if necessary
- Issue of Acceptance Form upon successful interview
- Receipt of signed acceptance/declaration/admission form together with copies of birth certificate and/or passport and 2 passport sized photograph
- Issue of uniform lists, joining instructions for students and invoice for fees
- Opening of student file upon receipt of deposit
- Inclusion of student information on School Management system
- Information to dorm & form tutors, matron, nurse and PE department

Mekaela School Curriculum
The Mekaela Academies follow the two National Education systems: 8.4.4 and CBC.
8-4-4 Curriculum:
This curriculum is currently being phased out by the Kenyan Government. In it we had students undertaking 8 years in Primary, 4 years in High School and 4 years in University.
Before this defined system starts, the children have to go through Early Childhood Education which starts from age 3 to 5 or Baby Class, Kindergarten 1 and 2 then the Primary level starts from age 6 or thereabout.
CBC Curriculum:
Mekaela Academies also offers the newly introduced Competency-Based Curriculum. This is the new education system in Kenya that is currently set to replace the 8-4-4 education system. The system was introduced in 2017.
CBC has divisions such as;
- Pre-primary Education (PP1 and PP2)
- Lower primary Education (Grade 1-3)
- Upper primary (Grade 4, 5 & 6)
- Junior secondary (Grade 7, 8, & 9)
- Senior School (Grade 10, 11 & 12)
Mekaela Academies has put in place all of the necessary structures, facilities, and CBC Champions among its teaching staff to implement this new curriculum and provide high-quality instruction to students.
Extra Subjects offered
MA teaches extra subjects in the Primary Section other than the prescribed, these include German Language and Computer Studies. As the world continues to embrace IT then our children need to tag along and hence the program which has modern tablets, laptops and qualified teachers to deliver to the children.
MA also teaches Life Skills to her children after realizing that many fundamental skills are being lost among the younger generation. Simple cooking, sowing, cleaning, etiquette, and general life practices are emphasized and instilled in the children’s lives.
MA has also has very vibrant Guidance and Counselling departments in each school which equips and counsels children when need arises. We believe in prevention but we are also ready for the cure in case it is required.
