List of Most Marketable Courses in Kenya

 

The Kenyan government is constantly investing heavily in the development of its education sector, and this means there are a lot of opportunities for qualified candidates hoping to secure employment in Kenya.

There are many different courses that individuals can pursue, depending on their interests and career goals. Below is a list of some of the most marketable Courses in Kenya

1.      Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery

The Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery  is a five-year degree course offered by the University of Nairobi and other universities.

It is also offered at the University of Eldoret, where it’s called the Bachelor in Medicine, Bachelor in Surgery

The course allows you to become a doctor and it’s considered by many people as one of the best courses you can take if you want to get into medicine because there are many opportunities available after graduation from university such as:

  • Doctoring in public hospitals
  • Working at private hospitals and clinics
  • Working abroad

 

2.      Bachelor of Pharmacy

Bachelor of Pharmacy is a four-year degree and it’s a professional degree. It is also marketable, recognized by the government, and has many job opportunities in Kenya.

3.      Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS)

This course is marketable and can be taken in Kenya. The best universities to take this course are:

  • Kenyatta University
  • Moi University

 

4.      Bachelor of veterinary medicine

The Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine (BVM) is a five-year course. You can work as a doctor in a hospital, zoo or farm.

Students study general subjects such as biology and chemistry, physics and mathematics before specializing in one area like human medicine or wildlife management.

The first three years are spent studying your chosen subject matter under lectures by experts in their field.

In the fourth year you will have to research papers on current issues that relate to your specialty area.

At this point you may also be required to publish papers based on these research findings which would qualify for publication at national or international conferences where other professionals present their work.

 

5.      Bachelor of science in Nursing

Nursing is one of the most in-demand fields in Kenya. Nurses are needed in all sectors of the , and can work in hospitals, clinics, schools, prisons and other places.

You may choose to work as a nurse practitioner or physician assistant at a hospital or clinic or you could become a consultant at your own private practice.

 

6.      BSc in engineering (all fields)

If you want to become an engineer, BSc in engineering is a marketable course. Engineering courses are always in demand and they are very marketable.

Engineering students study hard and get excellent results because they have great teachers who teach them well.

 

7.      Bcom (accounting options)

A Bachelor of Commerce (B. Com) degree is a four-year course that aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to succeed in business.

The B.Com degree is offered by universities in Kenya and abroad, including the University of Nairobi, Kenyatta University and Mt Kenya University.

8.    Bcom IT

Bcom it is a course that teaches you how to use information technology in the business world.

You will learn how to use computers, software and other technology in business.

The main objective of this course is to equip students with skills relevant for their future employment opportunities or further studies in related fields.

These include computer science engineering (CSE), information systems management (ISM) etc., so that they can make an informed decision about which stream will suit them best based on their career aspirations at this point in time.

 

9.      BBA

The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree is one of the most popular undergraduate business degrees in Kenya.

It’s also a great way to get into the workforce if you already have a bachelor’s degree, or even if you don’t have one at all!

The Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) is an undergraduate business program that prepares students for entry-level positions in many different industries like marketing and finance.

 

  • What does it take?

To get into this program, students must first complete their secondary education while still enrolled at high school or college.

10.  Bachelors in actuarial science

Actuarial science is a discipline that belongs to the field of mathematics and statistics. It provides knowledge about risk assessment and finance, which can be applied in many areas such as insurance and banking.

The average salary for an actuarial scientist who has completed the required coursework ranges between $18k-$30k.

However, the salary depends on where you live but there are other factors involved such as experience or certifications that may increase this figure further up to over $40k per year.

 

11.  BSc in statistics

Statistics is a very important course. It’s used in all fields, and it can be very marketable. Statistics is a very lucrative course. You could get a job in the finance industry or even as an economist.

 

It’s also popular because many people want to earn money by teaching statistics at universities, and there aren’t any other courses that teach statistics like this one does!

 

If you’re interested in earning some extra cash from home while studying something that will help make your career better down the road, then this might be just what you’re looking for!

 

12.  LLB and LLM

LLB and LLM are law degrees. You can study them at a university, or at a law school.

LLB is a three year course that takes place in either Kenya or Uganda.

 

It focuses on the principles of legal studies and also includes some compulsory modules related to your chosen field of specialization (e.g., constitutional law).

 

LLM is a course that focuses on more advanced topics in legal studies such as criminal law, family law and commercial law among others.

The best way to find out if a course is marketable is to ask yourself the following questions:

  • How long does it take for me to complete this course?
  • Is there any relevant experience required for me to be able to do well in my chosen area of study?
  • What kind of training and support will be provided during the duration of my studies (e-learning, face-to-face lectures, etc.)?

 

If you answered yes (or even if your answer was simply “it depends”), then go ahead and consider taking up one or more of these courses!
