Guide to Make Homemade Hand Sanitizer

Making hand sanitizer is very simple procedural activity. But first, let us consider the requirements which are required before you begin to make the hand sanitizer.

You will need to have the following:

  1. One-part aloe vera or glycerin
  2. You will need to have 2-part isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) with a concentration of 91%
  3. You will also be required to have essential oil such as lemon, tea tree oil or lavender
  4. You will need to have clean containers for mixing and an airtight container that will be used for storing.
  5. A spoon or a whisk will also be required highly for mixing.
Guiding steps
  1. Pick up a clean container and combine the aloe vera gel or glycerin with isopropyl alcohol.
  2. To ensure that you get one cup of sanitizer, combine a third of the gel or glycerin with two thirds cup of rubbing alcohol.
  3. Mix toughly using a spoon or a whisker to ensure that the alcohol content is well distributed thought the gel since it is the basic entity that is required to kill the germs and the bacteria.
  4. Add at around five to ten drops of essential oil to the mixture to improve on the scent of the sanitizer.
  5. After you are done with the step above, store the sanitizer in an airtight container since when alcohol is left open, it evaporates with time. You may use a pump or a squeeze bottle to ensure that also the sanitizer is well kept and there is ease of use when using it.

Note:  To thicken the hand sanitizer, add polyacrylic acid and polyethylene glycol and if the two are not available, try adding hydrophilic polymer.

Here are the tips to follow to ensure that you use your prepared sanitizer effectively.

  • Squeeze by spraying the sanitizer to palm of your one hand
  • Thoroughly rub the hand together ensuring that you reach all the entire surface of the hand.
  • Ensure that you keep on rubbing the hands to together to ensure that hands are dry. At least do it for 60 seconds.
Homemade sanitizer

To prepare sanitizer at your own home, follow these steps below here and note that you will need to have the following requirements.

  1. One-part aloe vera or glycerin
  2. You will need to have 2-part isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) with a concentration of 91%
  3. You will also be required to have essential oil such as lemon, tea tree oil or lavender
  4. You will need to have clean containers for mixing and an airtight container that will be used for storing.
  5. A spoon or a whisk will also be required highly for mixing.
Follow these steps now to make the sanitizer
  1. Pour out rubbing alcohol and aloe vera in a bowl and stir until the mixture is completely blended. Note: the aloe vera will add thickness and moisturize your skin.
  2. Add few drops of essential oil to increase scent in the mixture.
  3. Your sanitizer is now ready and you can label it with an appropriate label.

  1. One-part aloe vera or glycerin

Here is how you go about it.

  1. Start with a spray once bottle.
  2. Add ¾ of sterile water to the bottle
  3. Add aloe vera
  4. e spoonful of aloe vera gel
  5. Add about 10 drops of essential oil
  6. Mix the mixture thoroughly and place the spray on a dispenser and your sanitizer will be ready for use.

  • Mix the mix thoroughly to ensure that it is well mixed then pour it into a sanitizer container
  • Your sanitizer is no ready for use.
