When running an M-Pesa agency you will operate with two distinct accounts. These are a working account and a float account. A working account allows you to perform agent side transactions for instance float management and M-Pesa commissions are paid into this account. On the other hand, float account enables handling client transactions that is withdrawals and deposits.

M-PESA float is the money in an agent’s or sub agent’s account before performing any transactions.

In the process of operating your M-Pesa agency you may come across these two scenarios either you will have excess float that is money in your till account or you will have no float where by you have excess money but no float for customer deposits. Below is a guideline on getting cash for your M-Pesa agency till

When you run out of cash that is you cannot allow for more customer withdrawals, you will have to move money from your float account to the working account. To do this follow the simple steps below:

  • Go to your Safaricom SIM menu.
  • Choose M-Pesa and then store management
  • Next, choose move money from float
  • Enter amount then agent ID and PIN then send.
  • Your working account balance will increase by the amount you moved from your float account
  • Next, you will visit a super-agent and follow the process below:
  • Go to your Safaricom SIM menu.
  • Choose M-Pesa and then store management
  • Choose withdraw
  • Enter super agent’s number
  • Amount to withdraw and finalize the transaction.

You can also get float for your M-Pesa agency till by following the simple guideline blow:
  • Go to your Safaricom SIM menu.
  • Choose M-Pesa and then store management
  • Next, choose move money from float
  • Enter amount then agent ID and PIN then send.
  • Your working account balance will increase by the amount you moved from your float account

 

M-PESA Super Agent Commission

Super agents handle agent-to-agent transactions for instance most banks in Kenya are Super Agents. Some of these banks are KCB, Equity etc. Commission charged by supper agent per transaction will be at 0.05% of the amount. Often a minimum charge of Ksh. 50 and a maximum charge of Ksh. 200 on the maximum transaction value of 400, 000.

Equity M-Pesa Float Charges

The equity M-Pesa float charges are available to you at the normal super agency fees. Commission charged per transaction will be at 0.05% of the amount. A minimum charge of Ksh. 50 and a maximum charge of Ksh. 200 on the maximum transaction value of 400, 000.
